Event Details
The Sean-nós Northwest Irish Festival is pleased to announce it is returning to the Portland, Oregon metro area again this year. Marylhurst University in Lake Oswego will be the site of the sixth annual Sean-nós Northwest Irish Festival, President’s Day Weekend, February 15-17, 2013.
Instructors from both Ireland and the United States will provide classes in Irish language, singing, and traditional Irish dancing. The festival offers workshops in Irish art and storytelling as well as a screening of Irish films. The weekend starts on Friday evening in downtown Portland with an Irish ceili, a social dance with live music. Workshops are offered at Marylhurst on Saturday and Sunday, and a concert featuring some of the festival’s instructors is presented Saturday evening. Participants can attend any or all of the festival’s offerings and no prior experience is needed. Intermediate and master-level courses are also available for more advanced participants. Dance classes at all levels will feature live music.
Sean-nós Northwest is dedicated to promoting traditional Irish singing, language, dancing, and cultural arts in the Pacific Northwest.
